Organic Raw African Black Soap

An ancient, specialty soap, made using centuries-old recipes and methods passed down by elders through the generations.  Organic African Black Soap is made mostly in West Africa, specifically Ghana and Nigeria. The “secret” is in the ashes of cocoa pods, plantain leaves, and palm fronds, in various combinations, which are mixed with honey, Shea butter, and other oils, and then stirred in the African sun for several weeks in a slow soap-making process.

  • Plantain Skin Ash: Sun-dried and roasted to produce ash, this key component gives the soap its distinctive dark color and provides gentle exfoliation.  They also contain large  amounts of Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and iron, all three of which are fortifying and healing to skin cells.
    
  • Cocoa Pod Ash: Similar to plantain skins, dried and roasted cocoa pods contribute to the soap’s cleansing properties.
  • Palm Oil: Sourced from the oil palm tree, palm oil acts as a base fat, enriching the soap with moisturizing benefits.
  • Shea Butter: Extracted from shea tree nuts, shea butter is highly moisturizing, making the soap perfect for dry skin.
  • Coconut Oil: Enhances cleansing and lathering, adding to the soap’s effectiveness.
  • Tropical Honey: This has been shown for ages to have moisturizing and healing capabilities, as well as mild antibacterial properties.
